I grew up in Anaheim, California and currently work at a clinic that is right down the street from where I went to high school. It's an incredible feeling to serve an underserved population that I grew up with, some of whom were my classmates from high school. After high school, I attended Creighton University for college and then went to medical school at the Medical College of Virginia (which is now known as Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine). After eight long years away from California, I returned back to Orange County and completed my residency training in Family Medicine at UC Irvine where I also served as chief resident. After working for a small medical group and as faculty at another Southern California medical school, I joined the family medicine faculty at UC Irvine in 2011. I am currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Medicine, and serve as the Assistant Residency Program Director for the residency training program. My passion is in medical student and resident education. In any week, my day varies from seeing patients in my own clinic and teaching medical students who rotate in my clinic for their core family medicine 3rd year rotation, to precepting residents in their residency clinic, to teaching physical exam skills to first and second year medical students as a core teacher for the Clinical Foundations Course at UCI School of Medicine, to working on our residency program to help train a new generation of outstanding family physicians to mentoring students in Academic Societies at UCI School of Medicine. I love what I do here at UC Irvine, where I can see patients, teach medical students and residents and advocate for underserved patients in our community.
